ICIEI Panel Session

"The AI-LEAP project: LEArning Personalization with AI and of AI"

The panel will highlight the main goals and methodologies of the AI-LEAP two-year project. AI-LEAP aims at the personalization of learning experiences and the use of AI, in particular, it seeks to develop innovative solutions to promote learning of AI and learning with AI. The challenges of AI-LEAP are threefold:

● Educational challenge: design personalised learning experiences (how do learners differ in terms of cognitive abilities? How to organise learning materials?)

● Technological challenge: develop and implement personalised tools that can be tailored to the individual learner (how can AI be used to avoid purely algorithm-driven execution?)

● Dissemination challenge: facilitate the growth of an AI culture (how can fear/awe of AI be avoided? How can the actual functioning/benefits of AI be made accessible?)

Local Information

How to get

By car: from the A26 exit for Verbania and continue for 12 km in the direction of Verbania. When you reach the second traffic light take the right fork for Pallanza, and when you get to the square with the Cinema Sociale, go straight on following the signs. Alternatively, go straight on at the traffic light, along the SS34; you will come to the Courthouse, on your left just after a large roundabout (the second).  Turn off to the right 350 metres after the Courthouse for Villa San Remigio.

By train: the nearest railway station is Verbania-Pallanza.  From here you can get a bus to Pallanza.

About Villa San Remigio

Villa San Remigio is a Lombard baroque style building. It stands at the highest point of the Castagnola promontory in Pallanza, within a large park, bordered to the south by the Romanesque church of San Remigio, and to the north by the gardens of Villa Taranto.

Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the Villa owes its existence to two lovers determined to create their “dream garden”: the Marquis Silvio della Valle di Casanova, a Neapolitan poet and musician, and his wife, the Irish painter Sophia Browne. The couple were inspired by the great Italian villas of the Renaissance and Baroque periods to create a place where art and natural beauty might coexist in perfect harmony.
