Villa San Remigio is located in the most beautiful area of Lake Maggiore, ‘the Castagnola promontory’, just north of the Borromeo Islands, where the view encompasses the entire lake from north to south. Because of its size, location and historical importance, Villa San Remigio is perhaps the most important mansion of Lake Maggiore. It was built at the end of 1800 to live the dreams of love between the Marquis Silvio della Valle di Casanova, poet and musician, and Sophie Browne, painter, who wanted to build here “the garden of dreams”.
